Job 5:1-13: ” Resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple”(Job 5:2). Sometimes the resentment we carry is not against people but against situations which we find undesireable or unagreeable. One woman found herself in a job she didn’t like and every time she went to work, she fumed inwardly until she started to develop serious stomach troubles. She was given all kinds of treatment and medication but nothing helped.
Then one morning while reading Every day with Jesus , she came across this statement “It may be not what you are eating but what is eating you up that is your problem”. She then got down on her knees and surrendered her resentment to God and immediately felt better.
I wonder if this portrays your current way of life. Is resentment contributing to your ill health? Let go of it. No one can afford to carry resentment. It takes too much of a toll. A doctor once said and I quote, “You chew on your own tongue when you chew resentment” What is eating you up today?
